Since 2009/10, the structure of the succession market has reversed: it is not that more companies are scarce, but rather that interested parties have become much scarcer. Company owners no longer have their life’s work snatched out of their hands, and they have to make an effort to find the right successor. A look at one’s own staff is not to be missed ? because who knows the true value of a company better than an employee with many years of commitment and management experience who is involved in numerous details? If the company shares are transferred to such a person, this is called a management buy-out, or MBO for short.
