About the company

Max Allemann Werkzeugbau AG in Wiler near Utzenstorf/Canton Bern was founded in 1966 and was active in the plastics industry as a 2nd generation family business for over 50 years before the question of external succession arose in 2018. The company offers services ranging from engineering in the development phase to the production of injection moulds and plastic injection moulding and is completed with assembly and logistics services.

The company is ISO 9001 certified, works in 3 shifts and uses 45 injection moulding machines in sizes 10-650 tonnes clamping force.

With 35 employees, the company is a reliable partner of satisfied, long-standing customers from the construction industry, mechanical and apparatus engineering, the watchmaking industry and the electronics industry. Max Allemann Werkzeugbau AG enjoys an excellent reputation in Switzerland and with international clients and is known for its high level of competence in toolmaking and plastic injection moulding.

The task

The project included the preparation of the sale, the search for and approach of buyers as well as the organisation and moderation of the entire sales process. The challenge in this project was that there was a time limit for the succession solution due to operational requirements. Due to the high goal orientation and clarity of the entrepreneurial family as well as the immense commitment of all participants, the sale of the company was successfully realised within 6 months.

What the client says about the project

Beat and Hugo Allemann:

?Mr Andre from KERN already convinced us when we met him and we were more than confirmed in our choice - especially when measured by the result. We were accompanied in all steps in a highly committed, speedy and extremely professional manner. Particularly noteworthy is the sensitivity for our needs and the excellent moderation in this challenging task for us. Thanks to his understanding of our industry and his knowledge of the relevant buyer target groups, almost 40 high-calibre buyers became aware of our company within a very short time. Thus, it was easy for us to realise the best possible succession plan for our family business after only a few months. We would entrust Mr Andre with such a sensitive task again at any time and can only advise every entrepreneur to turn to him.”

About the buyer

PWF Kunststofftechnik AG (Laupersdorf / Switzerland) took over Max Allemann Werkzeugbau AG (Wiler / Switzerland) on 1 March 2019. The transaction was carried out as part of a succession plan.

The injection moulding company from the Swiss canton of Solothurn gains a location in the neighbouring canton of Bern through the acquisition. The number of employees grows from 40 to 65, and the number of injection moulding machines from 20 to 45. In addition, PWF can now offer customers all services from development and toolmaking to parts production and component assembly from a single source.

This is what the buyer, Dr Peter Winkler, says:

? “Us was impressed by the professionalism of Mr Andre’s advice and the care with which he brought us together with the sellers. His involvement was also very relevant to the success of the transaction for us as buyers.

Our experience has been extremely positive in all respects.”
